Columbia University

Our President is allowing the Iranian president into our country. I think this is completely crazy. Columbia University is allowing him to come to the school and speek. Columbia's Professor Bartoli said that the relationship between Columbia and Irans President Ahmadinejad developed in the nineties, long before Talabani became head of Iraq.
Even if this is true it shouldn't make a difference and he should never be allowed into our country. We are constantly on a terror alert and having the President of Iran in our country, in New York City no less is absolutely insane. This is making me feel so unsafe and probably many other people as well.
I understand if our President wants to be on good conditions with Iran, but letting him into our country isn't the way to go about it. Many people are going to disagree with him and he will lose a lot of peoples' respect.

September 11th

On September 11, I sat at home and watched television and at approximately the same time the planes hit the World Trade Centers in 2001 they played it at the exact same time again now only 6 years later. Even though it was 6 years ago those wounds are still fresh for many people and will probably never go away. That tragedy is something that should have never happened but we all learned from it and realized what a truly great country we live in. We take pride in being Americans and no matter how tough things get we will stay strong and fight through it. We are united and great and that will never change.

Why I write

Writing has been used since the earliest of times. It is a means of communication, expression, memories and many other things. Even cave men thousands of years ago had used writing as a means of communication. They used drawings on the wall which explained what they ate, how they lived, how they hunted and many other things.
There are many reasons to which why I write. A main reason for me is that writing can help relieve stress. Sometimes when I’m not in a good mood I write down all my thoughts and feelings. It helps me because I’m not keeping all my thoughts in my head, but instead getting them down on a piece of paper. Lets say I get into a fight with a friend, instead of keeping the anger locked up, writing them down makes me feel a little bit better because it’s as if the anger is released.
Another reason that I write is for memories. If something extremely important or very fun occurs I enjoy writing it down because later on if I forget about it, I’ll always have my writing to remind me of it. Once I start reading it over, it feels as if I’m reliving whatever happened and I’m so happy I had written it down. When I’m older and I have children of my own, I can show them what I did when I was younger and what I did to have fun.
Writing is very important because it is a means of communication. Before telephones were invented people wrote letters to each other in order to communicate. Even though we now have telephones I write letters to friends and sometimes even family who live far away and in return I will receive a postcard. This is one of the most important reasons for me to use writing. I’m able to stay in contact with those I care about.
Everyone in some form uses writing. Whether it is in poetry, a letter, or even a diary it is used and is very important to us. Without writing we wouldn’t be where we are today as a society.
